I am a big fan of the work of the Good Law Project, which has been doing an amazing job in holding the government to account for its corruption. They have been in court this week and I thought it worth sharing this short summary of what has happened in their case this week:

Well, all I can say is that if HM opposition cannot capitalize on this, then f**k them.
They might as well go home, get out of the way and let the rest of us fill the void.
If the judgement goes against the Government, then the Judiciary don’t have much time left as they are now.

Well, some might, but not enough of them to make a difference.
many are just chalking-it-down to just another tax dodge, and taking notes in case it is useful later.
The self-employed guys are thanking the govt for their £20K handout.
Businesses that were slowly sinking under the weight of having to work for the money also got a wedge or three.
At the end of the day, or enquiry, all that will happen is that a sacrificial goat, or two, will be thrown to the wolves, and life will continue. And they’ll change the law so that any other challenges to their omnipotence will be silently dumped into a pit somewhere.
The extent of the corruption is now so large that people can’t be bothered about it, and the press are only interested in Randy Andy and that coloured woman usurping the throne of the Kingdom.
The rich will stay rich, the poor will stay poor and get even more poor.
I know you won’t believe me, but truck drivers vote tory. Binmen vote tory (even those in a union). Brickies vote tory. I was wandering around the embankment on Wednesday chatting to a guy (who repairs roads, self-employed) who is planning a trip to Australia to see relatives, eventually. He got £20K from the govt, and he was working throughout luckdown (sic). He doesn’t care about corruption because “they’re all at it”.
As long as the tories owners also run the media, Labour has no chance. Less with Starmer at the helm of the sinking ship.

You’ll have noted that the furore over 150,000 deaths has died-down from its already-low-level.
Meanwhile, the deaths from the dramatically-reduced level of healthcare have still to arrive.
My local hospital has increased the level of trauma care available, with a new path unit for A&E, and another trailer-mounted MRI unit as well. The rest is suffering various degrees of deprivation, along with low staffing levels (as usual).
The rumour is that because they’ve spent £17 million on it, they will close it soon!
The NHS staff are used to large amounts being spent on dying causes!
I doubt you are following the EW railway saga, although it is worth following, even if only because both the local council and the railway company have largely ignored the real world. A housing development near Cambourne, already being built, has only just learnt that a two-line railway, mainly for freight, is going right through it.
Contempt.
Corruption.
There seems to be no honesty in government anymore. Local or national. Just big brown bags filled with cash. And offshore bank accounts.
Truly, the country (or world) is in a very sad state.
‘Labour hasn’t lost the support of working people but it has lost the support of the retired. That will make it more difficult to win elections but starting from a clear understanding of what has happened in the last decade goes some way to helping decide what to do about it. I’m encouraged by what happened 30 years ago with the poll tax protests, After months of nothing happening suddenly out of the blue people realized & objected to the gross unfairness of the proposed new system
the stink builds up
