Cable will never get into government because of our accursed First Past the Post electoral system. Had Blair delivered to Ashdown on his promise of PR British politics would be much healthier. We might even have avoided the Iraq war. But that’s another issue.
Vince Cable’s close colleague – VC word’s to me – isnt bad at lobbying. Lib Dem Lord Valance of Tummel – Iain Valance in people speak – heads up the transnational capital lobby group on services, to Brussles, the European Services Forum.
The ESF lobbied and got
– EU demands on developing country services and access to their financial service markets, and demanded water services
– the offer of cheap labour entry into the EU for all 152 countries of the WTO, included in what the EU is offering on GATS – undermining labour standards for ever in the EU
This offer might become commitment this week 😕
And Vince is aware of it. Thanks Lordship. Thanks Vince.
