Boom time is back: the lawyers are making money again

Posted on

From the FT this morning:

The prolonged downturn that has weighed on the fortunes of the UK's biggest law firms is showing signs of abating after the top 100 firms recorded their first double-digit increase in revenue in five years.

Fee income rose an average of 10.5 per cent in the first quarter of the 2013-14 financial year across the top 100 firms, the largest increase since April 2008, according to new statistics.

Triples all round!

That's just the sort of growth we want. Socially useless takeovers; oligarchs fighting over their tax haven loot and high end divorces must all be on the increase.

But never mind: never worry about the quality of growth, just feel the quantity.
