IMHO the gap between the two circles should be much much bigger
Richard – your blog of the 24th June included an article headed “The fight against fascism is on”. I am currently reading a book entitled -Sophie Scholl and the White Rose. As I am sure you will know, The White Rose was a group of mainly young students at Munich University who wrote and distributed various leaflets around German cities denouncing Hitler and National Socialism. The first paragraph of the first leaflet reads as follows – Nothing is so unworthy of a civilised nation as to allow itself to be “governed” without any opposition by an irresponsible clique that has yielded to basic instincts. Not unlike the UK today!
Where is the point located at which he can be pronounced unfit for the job and removed under medical grounds? Asking for four nations.
It depends whose reality we are considering. This diagram is perfect if we are considering what we might call the ‘people’s reality’. If, however, we consider the Ruling Establishment’s reality, the two circles surely coincide.
I should have said ‘Ruling Establishment/Big business’ reality.
I disagree. The trouble is Johnson focuses only on one bit of reality – himself. He has become a cult to those who see the image he projects of naughty boy Boris. Behind that image he is ruthless in self-promotion and destroying anything in his way. I am sure he has made sure that whatever happens he will be insulated from any consequences.
I am firmly of the opinion that he is now acting like all dictators at the end of their reign, in that he is using his position to strike deals that will grant him immunity from his misdeeds when he eventually has to step down from his current position.
Is this in relation to Johnson saying he intends to stay til 2030? Maybe it is not so much delusional as telling us that he will be rigging the voting system / finding reasons to defer elections/ to ensure that he does stay in office !
As I see it his rule of thumb is to live one day at a time. It’s an old strategy which has kept many people going longer than they, or anyone else, ever thought possible. The plus being that you don’t have to do anything at all other than keep on keeping on. Ops on your nose, trips abroad….one day at a time sees you through.
